Applications and hardware - deadlines for summer
During the summer, the IT department will carry out maintenance work, replacements and a refresh of the IT environment at the University. To ensure that everything is ready for the start of the semester, there are some important dates to keep in mind.

- 5/6 order hardware
- Pre-installation application in labs and/or VDI as soon as you know
What is happening at JU during the summer this year is
- all computer rooms will be reinstalled
- all lecture computers will be reinstalled
- VDI (JTH) will be refreshed (remove applications)
- the exam computers at HLK are replaced
The reinstallation of computers and the refresh of VDI means that only a standard installation with Windows and Office remains. In computer labs and on lecture computers, software can be installed from the Company Portal. If you want a lab to be pre-installed with software, use the "Order pre-installation Opens in new window." form. The same form is used if you want an application available in the Company Portal to be available in the VDI environment. You cannot install software yourself in VDI.
New/updated application
Think about:
- which applications do I need?
- should any be updated?
- do any need to be purchased?
- should software be pre-installed?
- should software be in VDI?
Place your order as soon as possible!
Before the start of the new semester, there are many software that must be purchased or updated to a new version. Complete orders must be submitted to the IT department via the "Order software Opens in new window." form no later than 19 May. After this, our process starts with the acquisition of license files etc., building distribution packages for the Company portal and doing tests together with teachers who verify that everything works. After the tests, time is needed for any corrections and new tests before we can put the software in the Company portal. If the software is to be pre-installed in a lab or in the VDI environment and be available at the start of the semester, we would prefer to have it in the order in May, otherwise as soon as possible when rooms are booked. Software that is not new or updated also needs to be ordered for pre-installation in rooms and VDI. Orders for pre-installation or installation in the VDI environment received later than August 15 cannot be guaranteed in time for the start of the semester.

Place your order as soon as possible!
In cases where computers or other IT equipment are needed before the start of the semester, the IT department needs to receive a correctly completed order via the forms "Order computer, tablet Opens in new window." or "Order other IT
Opens in new window." by June 5. Once the order is received, we place an order with our suppliers. The suppliers' delivery time may be delayed during the summer due to vacations or lack of hardware. Upon delivery of the computer, the technician takes over the case and installs the computer to the user.
