If you plan to stay in Sweden for less than 12 months, you may be eligible to receive a coordination number.

You can apply for a coordination number if your stay in Sweden is expected to be less than 12 months. A coordination number is an identification number assigned to individuals who are not, or have not been, registered in the Swedish Population Register. It allows public authorities and other societal functions to verify a person’s identity, even if they are not registered in Sweden.

If a person later registers in the Population Register, the personal identity number will replace the coordination number.
