Anna Bjällmark avlade sin doktorsexamen år 2010 vid Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan med en avhandling inriktad på ultraljudsbaserade metoder för utvärdering av hjärtkärlsfunktion. Hon uppnådde docentkompetens inom Medicinsk teknik 2015 och har sedan dess fortsatt att arbeta inom området med fokus på metodutveckling inom ultraljud.  

Sedan år 2017 är Anna verksam vid Hälsohögskolan och ägnar sig nu åt undervisning inom Biomedicinsk analytikerprogrammet och Röntgensjuksköterskeprogrammet. Hennes forskningsintressen omfattar flera områden inom radiografi, inklusive strålsäkerhet, användningen av kontrastmedel och tillämpningar av artificiell intelligens med fokus på röntgensjuksköterskans perspektiv. Dessutom är hon involverad i projekt som undersöker kopplingen mellan bukaortaaneurysm och oral hälsa.
