New Publication: Exploring Gender and Professional Identity in Accounting
MMTC member Professor Timur Uman, together with co-authors Pernilla Broberg, Helene Tjärnemo, Lisa Källström, and Jennifer Emsfors, has published a new article in the ABS 3-ranked journal Accounting Forum.
he article, titled “Images of the accounting profession and its development: the depiction of females and males in contextual domains”, investigates how Sweden’s national accounting magazine Balans portrayed male and female professionals over four decades. Using visual and structural analysis, the study reveals how professional imagery both reflects and shapes gender norms within the field of accounting.
This research contributes to the growing conversation on representation, diversity, and professional identity, and offers new insights into how visual media can influence institutional legitimacy and inclusion.
