MMTC Researchers Contribute to International Governance Training in Moldova
As part of the international initiative “Good Governance and Accountability in Public Administration” — funded by the Swedish Institute (SI) — MMTC members Yuliya Khvatsik, Timur Uman, and Olof Brunninge have taken part in launching the project's first training module in Chișinău, Moldova.
The event, hosted at the State University of Moldova, gathered public administration professionals and local leaders from eight communities in Ukraine’s Sumy region, together with representatives from Moldova and Sweden. The aim was to share cross-national perspectives and strengthen public sector leadership, transparency, and accountability.
The training module included:
- Lectures on the Swedish model of municipal governance
- Legal and strategic perspectives on local government
- The role of young people, media, and NGOs in community development
- Collaborative workshops and visits to key cultural and institutional sites
Opening remarks were given by representatives of the Swedish and Ukrainian embassies, the Vice-Mayor of Chișinău, the Swedish Institute, and academic leaders from partner universities. MMTC’s Professor Timur Uman, who serves as the project coordinator, emphasised the importance of this collaborative initiative in building robust governance frameworks across borders.
The project not only fosters academic and professional exchange but also contributes to MMTC’s broader mission of supporting sustainable, inclusive, and effective institutional transformation in the public sector.
We are proud to be part of this vital collaboration, enabling public leaders to learn from diverse experiences and co-create solutions for better governance,” says Timur Uman.
Further training modules are planned as the project continues, reinforcing MMTC's ongoing commitment to knowledge-sharing and societal impact through research-led engagement.
