Jönköping University

The Center for Odontology and Oral Health (COO) is structured around a collaboration between the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University, the Institute of Odontology at Region Jönköping County Public Dental Health Services, the Southeastern Healthcare Region, Linköping University and 14 regions in Sweden. The collaboration works in the areas of education at bachelor's and master's levels, specialist training for dentists as well as research and postgraduate education. COO is an important network that aims to stimulate and promote development in dentistry and oral health science, both in breadth and depth.

Education

Gathering competences that are involved in various education programmes within odontology and oral health sciences in a joint center formation, creates the right environment for inter-professional learning, achieving synergy effects and an efficient use of teaching resources.

Collaboration

Together with 14 of Sweden's 21 regions, the Institute of Odontology at the Region Jönköping County Public Dental Health Services and Linköping University, the Center for Odontology and Oral Health Sciences collaborate to gather research and education under one roof.

Research

COO develops good conditions for practical, applied research. Through close cooperation between Jönköping University, Region Jönköping County, Linköping University and our regional collaboration partners, we create the dental care of the future.

Seminars

At COO you can have access to dental professionals and research active learning and development in various forms and forums. All our activities are open to those who want to learn more and take part in the latest knowledge in dentistry and oral health.

Current research

The Jönköping study is a unique study with more than 50 years of collected data. In order to plan for the provision of resources and training in the dental care field, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of dental health and the dental care needs of the population.

A new dental education

In collaboration with Region Jönköping County and Linköping University, Jönköping University wants to start up a new dentist training programme with a unique educational concept. Work is underway to realize the plans for an application for degree rights for a new dental education.
