New Higher Vocational Education this fall

The Department of Higher Vocational Education at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University will start six technology programmes this fall, of which the Production, e-commerce and warehouse logistics programme is completely new. For this, SEK 36 million has been approved from the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education (MYH).

“This is a very good result for us,” says Mats Kihlman, Head of Department for Higher Vocational Education at the School of Engineering.

The Higher Vocational Education programme Production, e-commerce and warehouse logistics is primarily aimed at those who currently work with production or logistics and who want to take the next step in their careers. It provides competence to lead and implement improvement work in a company's logistics operations, with a focus on automation and e-commerce.

"Important for the region's development"

“The programme is important for the region's development as a logistics center and for meeting the manufacturing industry's increased need for competence in logistics,” says Mats Kihlman.

In order for a programme to be approved and funded by MYH, there must be a concrete need for the skills it provides, the Higher Vocational Education must have a strong support in working life and, when re-applying for the same programme, you need to have good results in the past.

“Getting these six programmes approved is a good indicator of the level of cooperation we have with the region's business community. We design the content and structure of the programmes in collaboration with industry representatives from the region's companies to ensure that the educations correspond to the needs that exist in the region, says Mats Kihlman.
