Higher Vocational educations showed off its new premises
Higher Vocational educations Jönköping (Yrkeshögskolan Jönköping, YJ) has moved from Bäckadalsgymnasiet to significantly larger premises at Rosenlund. Recently, they inaugurated their new premises for their partners. The School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) is responsible for eleven of YJ's twelve programmes.
Higher Vocational educations is based on the collaboration between employers and industry organizations and the educations are developed to match the skills needed in working life. YJ is since this semester located at Vasavägen 6 at Rosenlund in Jönköping. They have increased their floor space from 500 square metres at Bäckadalsgymnasiet to about 1,300 square metres in their current premises and when their new lease comes in to effect later this fall, they will expand their floor space to 2,000 square metres. This means that they will be active in two thirds of the house at Vasavägen 6, which is owned by Jönköping municipality.
Areas to develop the business in
On 24 September, YJ invited staff at Jönköping University, the business community and politicians to see their new premises with associated CNC machines and robots and more.
Anders Rickman, Operations Manager for YJ, is satisfied and proud of their new premises.
“Now we have areas where we can grow and develop the business and we are gathered under one roof, which improves our coordination opportunities. We can receive companies to a completely different extent than before and have room for an entire prototype workshop in the basement. This means that we will be able to manufacture many different prototypes, which is a great advantage for our students,” he says.
"I can really recommend this education"
Tove Rosén from Ljungby is studying to be a CNC technician at YJ and moved to Jönköping because of her education.
“It is a great education with good teachers, and we have a good atmosphere in our class where we help each other out. A big advantage is that many companies are looking for CNC technicians and that you have great opportunities to get a job after the education. I can really recommend this education to others,” says Tove Rosén.
